What does the mismanagement do?

  • GM – the grand master or mistress of the mismanagement, ensuring that people are suitably hassled to fulfil drunken promises, organising mismanagement meetings and drinking practice. Never drinks alone.
  • RA – has the weekly responsibility of making sure we have a circle and the burden of providing weather.
  • Beer Raiser – makes sure that the holy cold beer arrives at each hash.
  • Hash Cash – takes the money every week and is responsible for making sure we have enough left in our coffers for special events.
  • Hare Raiser – cajoles hashers into laying trail, updates the hareline and ensures hares are suitably rewarded with carrots.
  • Web Slave – updates www.zh3.ch and keeps up to date on our emails.
  • Haberdashers (x2) – organise and sell our ZH3 hash gear.

ZH3 Hash # 1669: Red Dress Run 2025

Details

Hares: Cavity Search & Climbidia.

WHAT?
It’s exactly what it sounds like: a run (or walk) following a trail around the beautiful city of Zürich for which EVERYONE, man, woman, child, or dog, will wear their finest red frock. There will be stylish haberdashery freebies, a fabulous central location, bawdy singing, and a LOT of beer. Best of all, it’s for a good cause.

WHY?
In 1987, a woman named Donna Reinhart got gussied up for what turned out to be the worst date ever. Not only was she taken to the Long Beach Hash, she was then told to “wait in the truck” due to her unsuitable outfit. But Donna, being a total badass, joined the run in her pretty red dress. This impressed the hashers so much that they began holding a Red Dress Run annually in her honour, raising money for charity. Other hashes have adopted the custom and now thousands of dollars are generated each year for good causes around the world.

WHO (are we giving the money to)?
Once again we will be raising money for 143.ch, a mental health crisis hotline offering support for German and English speakers in Switzerland by phone, email and webchat. This is a cause close to all our hearts after the tragic loss of our beloved co-hasher Bling Dong (Matt Moss) last year. The suggested cost of this hash will be 25CHF, and you are very welcome to donate more if you wish to. If you wish to prepay, please make a transfer to the below account with the reference “RDR 2024 (your hash name)”

Here’s what you need to know about the Hash:

All Welcome:
If you are new, curious, and want to get out of the house, stretch your legs, talk shit, enjoy a drink, and hopefully a laugh, then here’s what you need to know:
• Physical fitness is not required, but a sense of humor is useful.
• The aim is to find the ‘Beer Stop’ at the end of the ‘trail’ and have fun.
• ‘True Trail’ is typically 4-7 km. Some will go less (especially those walking or walk/running) and some over-achieving fast runners will go further.
• The ‘Hare’, which changes each event, cleverly lays the trail (typically with flour marks) so that everyone reaches the end at the same time.
• There is always a place to deposit your bag and sometimes a place to change.
• After Trail, we group for ~30-45 minutes for drinks, snacks and some fun. This ‘Circle’ is typically outside, so leave something warm in your bag in winter (and bring a flashlight when it’s dark).

Why bother leaving your warm sofa?
If you enjoy getting outside, being around people, and doing something a bit different, you will probably enjoy hashing.

‘Hashing’ and the idea of some physical activity to work up a thirst, have been around for almost 90 years and there are groups (Hashs) in most major cities. Its humor and ‘traditions’ can be explored on the internet – or you can just come along and find out. See you there.

We are of many nationalities, all ages, full of misfits and idiots (at least there is no one taking themselves seriously!) and always welcome newbies ‘Virgin Hashers’ and visitors from other groups.

Paella Hash 2025 (formerly known as Spitroast Hash)

  • What is Paella hash?

The hash formerly known as Spitroast hash is taking a new flavor this year as the Paella Hash 2025. Our British-Spanish (I hope more Spanish than British) cook Mr. Coitus Into Porcus will prepare a real Spanish paella(s) on the fire. We promise there won’t be pineapple or chorizo in it.
Come. Run. Circle. Eat.

  • When is it?

Saturday, 7th of June 2025 at 14:00

  • Where is the event taking place?

Waldhütte Häuligrueb (no parking places available)

  • Who is haring?

Premature Cocksucker and other hashers.

  • How can I contribute?

SIDES & DESSERTS: Let us know if you would like to bring something (salad, a regional dish, dessert).

ZH3 Annual SOLA Teams

Every year, the Zurich Hash House Harriers sign up to run the Zurich SOLA relays, the largest university sponsored sports event in Switzerland.

On average we sign up 2 to 3 teams to run, while other hashers offer to volunteer along the route as “beer angels” and general cheering fans. After everyone is finished, we celebrate by barbequing and boozing up together near the event, where we are joined by additional hashers!

What is SOLA?
SOLA is a relay run around Zurich city. A 14x runners team covers a total distance of 114.77 km and an altitude difference of 2,640 m in the greater Zurich area. The 14 sections are between 3.69 – 14.11 km long suitable for all type of runners. For more information you can visit SOLA homepage.
